I’ve always struggled with accepting who I was throughout my life, and honestly it’s still an issue for me today. Over time I have come to learn what it takes to have inner peace with myself and let go of the notions and the attributes that don’t serve me the person I am.
For a long time I had low self-esteem and I just couldn’t think of my self as significant and important especially around the dreams, goals and desires I had for my life and future. I always wanted to create my own business and create a lifestyle that suited me but because I didn’t have the skills, tools and the kind of foundation that could foster the tools I needed in having confidence I ended up building it for myself over time instead! I thought I would never be able to reach my goal of becoming an entrepreneur, but I never gave up on my dream and I kept encouraging myself, whether it was was through inner dialogue or motivational videos and inspiring people I would consume it and surround myself with it.
Because I went through this I wanted to create a space where women of color could come to heal and be supported in who they are and want to be in this world. As a woman of color I struggled with my own identity and my abilities to function and adapt to the social conditioning of what a successful person looked like and was in the U.S. As an African woman cultural expectation and specific standards were all I was expected to achieve for myself, but by becoming my own person I was able to overcome the expectations, struggles and ideologies held for me in a world that just could not and did not want to understand who I truly was on the inside. With much time, I began to see my authentic self the women I knew I wanted to be and for what I truly am, beautiful, kindhearted, capable and sacred and you are too! By being truly authentic to who I was with myself and really being honest about the process of my life I was able to realize what I wanted by caring for my needs.
Through hating myself and experiencing hard times I began desiring a better way of life and wanting more for my self which led me to learning how to achieve this and the antidote became love, love for myself, and love for others. In learning how to create a better life for me, I had to understand myself first, the things that I liked and those that I didn’t, why I did and why I didn’t. I had to accept myself and I had to grow in love with myself and you can too. This is where I became aware, aware of who I was and of my knowledge and strength and abilities, By harnessing self-care practices through traveling and mindfulness I created a multi-passionate business in self-care, self-awareness, mindfulness coaching, By letting go of all of the fear, doubt, insecurity and worries I had, I have been able to love myself and allow the process of it all to guide me and this is what I can do for you as a self-empowerment coach. Through my experience and knowledge of the ‘‘Othered’’ Identity in the U.S. and the cultural and social norms and issues we all face I teach, guide, support, and inspire you to a better quality of life experiences with self-care and self awareness coaching.
